Welcome to the website of Phi Kappa Phi, Chapter 100, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas—Chapter 100 for a university and location that are 100 percent fascinating. Our university’s motto, “Rebels Make It Happen,” is reflected in the membership of our Phi Kappa Phi chapter. We are an active chapter full of accomplished faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and we’ve been operating on campus since 1967—before UNLV was even named UNLV (back then, it was called Nevada Southern University). This makes Phi Kappa Phi one of UNLV’s oldest organizations.
Phi Kappa Phi is also one of UNLV’s most important academic organizations. It is UNLV’s only university-wide honor society that promotes and recognizes scholarly excellence in all academic disciplines. Our chapter, Chapter 100, awards scholarships every year to the top Junior and Senior, and initiates and nominates one graduating senior for the national Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship competition.
Phi Kappa Phi has chapters on nearly 300 select college and university campuses. Membership is by invitation only, and each year it is extended to the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students, and the top 7.5 percent of juniors. Faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction also may qualify for membership invitations. We also have inducted honorary members and been involved in various campus presentations. We are proud that some of UNLV’s finest faculty and staff members have been among our leaders.
Chapter 100 continues to redefine service to the academy, demonstrate leadership and scholarly excellence, and promote a lifelong love of learning. We hope that our web and social media presence will be useful to members and prospective members. It is important for us to maintain our strong Phi Kappa Phi community through robust participation at our events, student activities, and lectures.
